On-site, In-person About La Puente Home, Inc. - Who We Are La Puente is a trusted, community‑rooted nonprofit organization delivering food security, youth outreach, advocacy, and community strengthening programs across the San Luis Valley, Colorado. The San Luis Valley is the world's largest alpine valley that encompasses six counties and culturally rich 35 communities between the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan Mountain ranges. Position Summary We are seeking a people‑oriented and values-driven professional to join our team as Manager, People & Culture, a role that strengthens our mission by cultivating a supportive, equitable, and high‑performing workplace across all programs. As a steward of organizational culture, the Manager champions La Puente's values and builds systems that empower our teams to deliver life‑changing services throughout the San Luis Valley. This role partners closely with program directors to design mission‑aligned hiring practices and oversees full‑cycle talent acquisition. Reporting to Chief Values Officer, the Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations and fosters talent development and professional growth environment that supports La Puente's workforce and maximizes impact of all programs and services. Core Responsibilities In this role you will: Lead talent acquisition initiatives and hiring process. Partner with program directors to craft job descriptions, and design onboarding experiences that immerse new staff in La Puente's mission and values, and assure success by supporting and facilitating timely and adequate training. Champion a workplace culture rooted in compassion, dignity, and inclusion through engagement and recognition initiatives. Maintain and update human resources policies, safeguard personnel records, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards. Implement growth‑oriented evaluation processes, coach supervisors on effective leadership, and coordinate professional development opportunities. Participate in a staff-led Culture and Values committee. Qualifications and Credentials -
What Are We Looking For Required:
Bachelor's degree or 4-years experience in organizational development, human resources management, or related field. Minimum 2 years of HR, people operations, or relevant professional experience. Knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and best practices. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills. High discretion, emotional intelligence, and cultural humility. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Office suites. Strong organizational and time‑management skills, ability to work independently. Proven skills to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred:
Experience in nonprofit, social services, community development, or mission‑driven organizations. Compensation, Schedule, and Benefits Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
Full-time, exempt, 40 hours per week. This is an onsite position based in Alamosa, Colorado. Occasional after-hours and weekend availability is required for community events, program escalations and crises.

Paid Holidays:
Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, Christmas, and New Year's Day. After two years, an additional 3 days of paid Christmas leave. Vacation /
PTO:
receive 64 hours or 8 days of PTO. Each "day" is valued at 8 hours. These days off can be applied towards sick time, vacation, or holidays. After completing the 2nd year of employment, employees will be granted 72 hours or 9 days and after the 3rd year, 80 hours or 10 days of PTO.
Health Insurance:
Eligible after 60 days. La Puente covers 70-80% of premiums (depending on plan), including prescription coverage.

Other Insurance:
Access to dental, vision, short-term, long-term disability, and life insurance (employee-paid) after 60 days. Employees may also enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (up to $2,600 annually).
Professional development:
Up to 5 paid days annually for training, with prior approval.
Bereavement leave:
Up to 5 paid days for immediate family; up to 3 paid days for other relatives/friends.
Retirement:
Eligible to participate in La Puente's
SIMPLE IRA
