Job description Position Summary The Dog Stop Dog Groomer is responsible for providing safe, high-quality grooming services while delivering an exceptional experience for pets and their owners. Groomers are expected to maintain professional grooming standards, build client relationships, promote salon services, and contribute to the overall success and cleanliness of the salon.
Compensation:
Estimated at $40,000-$50,000+ per year This is a commission-based position with a 50% commission on grooming services , plus tips. Annual earnings will vary based on grooming volume, schedule, and experience. As our client base grows, there is strong potential to earn above the listed range. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Grooming Services Perform breed-standard and pet trims according to client requests. Bathe, dry, brush, clip, and style dogs safely and efficiently. Complete nail trims, ear cleaning, gland expressions (if permitted), and other grooming services. Evaluate coat, skin conditions, and communicate findings to pet parents. Identify health concerns and report them to management immediately. Ensure all pets are handled with care, patience, and professionalism. Customer Service Conduct thorough check-in and check-out consultations. Discuss grooming expectations and recommendations with clients. Educate pet parents on coat maintenance and home care. Promote salon memberships, packages, add-on services, and retail products. Maintain positive relationships that encourage repeat business and referrals. Sales & Performance Maintain target average ticket sales.
Recommend appropriate add-on services including:
Teeth brushing Deshedding treatments Specialty shampoos Paw treatments Nail grinding Seasonal packages Encourage rebooking before clients leave the salon. Meet established productivity and revenue goals. Animal Safety Follow all safety protocols and handling procedures. Monitor pets throughout the grooming process. Report accidents, injuries, or unusual behavior immediately. Maintain a safe environment for pets, clients, and team members. Verify required vaccinations according to company policy. Salon Cleanliness Always maintain a clean and organized grooming station. Disinfect tables, tubs, kennels, and tools between pets. Complete daily cleaning tasks and sanitation checklists. Help with laundry, kennel cleaning, and salon organization. Follow all health and sanitation standards. Teamwork Communicate effectively with bathers, groomers, reception staff, daycare staff, and management. Help team members when needed. Participate in staff meetings and ongoing education opportunities. Promote a positive and professional workplace culture. Performance Expectations Groomers may be evaluated on: Groom quality Pet safety Customer satisfaction Average ticket value Rebooking percentage Productivity Add-on sales Attendance and reliability Teamwork Salon cleanliness Compliance with company policies Qualifications Required Previous professional dog grooming experience. Ability to groom multiple breeds safely and efficiently. Knowledge of canine behavior and handling techniques. Strong customer service skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Professional grooming certification. Experience with breed-standard trims. Experience working in a daycare or boarding environment. Retail sales experience. Physical Requirements Standing for extended periods. Bending, lifting, reaching, and handling dogs of various sizes. Working around water, cleaning products, pet hair, and grooming equipment.
