Please submit an online application Summary Long Island University's Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician for their Large Animal Ambulatory Services. This position supports the Service's on-going clinical rotations for Year 4/final year veterinary students traveling with the College's large animal clinicians to equine and livestock owners and facilities on Long Island and in the greater Tri-State area. Key Responsibilities Actively maintain inventory of equipment and consumables Maintain critical inventory logs Detailed cleansing & maintenance of surgical, radiography & ultrasonography equipment Maintain equipment service logs Maintain and Monitor Electronic Medical Records Systems Assist in Ambulatory Vehicle Driving Clean and Stock Ambulatory Vehicles Assist with Student and Clinician Communication Assist with Client Communication and Scheduling Assist in Training of Students Tabulate Student Case Activities Within the Ambulatory Rotations Perform the Service's In-House Laboratory Work Cleansing, Packing, and Autoclave Sterilization of Surgical Instruments Laundering of Surgical Drapes, Wraps, and Work Wear Aid in Similar Support of the Complementary Equine Ambulatory Rotation Other Duties as Assigned Minimum Qualifications Licensed Veterinary Technician required Diligent Work Ethic When Independent of Constant Personal Supervision Excellent Time Management Strong Organizational Skills Attention to Detail Accurate, Precise, and Complete Documentation Skills Clear, Concise Written and Verbal Communication Skills Skilled in MS Outlook, Excel and Word 2 Years of Food Animal Husbandry Experience; Other Large Animal, Such as Equine, Experience Is Desired Skill and Experience in Large Animal Restraint and Handling Driver's License, Safe Driving Record Confidence and Skill in Driving a Large Pick-Up Truck or Passenger Van Required to Accompany Rotations on Overnight Trips to Upstate Farms About The College of Veterinary Medicine at
