Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is a key member of the PE/Maintenance team and is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production and facility equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic must have the ability to work independently, diagnose equipment problems, determine the appropriate corrective action, and complete repairs safely and efficiently. The position requires a broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and general industrial equipment, as well as the ability to perform preventive maintenance and assist with equipment installation and improvements. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment, including routine servicing, adjustments, inspections, and minor repairs.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment malfunctions.
  • Install, adjust, inspect, and maintain new and existing production and facility equipment.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, inspections, and other maintenance activities.
  • Communicate effectively with Production and other departments to coordinate equipment repairs, maintenance activities, and downtime.
  • Assist with equipment modifications, improvements, and installation projects as needed.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and other repair work as required.
  • Assist in training other maintenance personnel on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or in a similar industrial maintenance position.
  • Trade school or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems effectively.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform welding and fabrication as needed.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use computerized maintenance systems and other applicable software.
  • Good physical dexterity and ability to perform hands-on maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively with other maintenance and production personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize work based on equipment condition, safety, and production requirements.
