Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Hotel Building and Grounds Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of hotel facilities and exterior grounds. This role is vital in ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and groundskeeping skills, along with a passion for maintaining high standards of facility excellence. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the guest experience through diligent maintenance and proactive problem-solving. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building interior systems including electrical equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, and building fixtures to ensure optimal operation. Conduct repairs using hand tools, welding equipment, and schematics to address issues with electrical wiring, plumbing systems, HVAC units, or mechanical components. Maintain facilities equipment such as elevators, lighting, heating/cooling systems, and other mechanical devices through scheduled servicing and troubleshooting. Execute painting projects—both interior and exterior—to uphold the hotel's aesthetic standards. Oversee groundskeeping tasks including landscaping, parking lot maintenance, snow removal, and general exterior upkeep to enhance curb appeal. Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and ohmmeters to diagnose electrical or mechanical faults accurately. Lead small teams or coordinate with contractors for specialized repairs or upgrades when necessary. Requirements Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building operations within a hospitality or similar environment. Strong electrical experience with the ability to repair electrical equipment using schematics and tools like ohmmeters. Mechanical knowledge including HVAC system repair, plumbing system maintenance and repair, carpentry, welding, and use of hand tools. Familiarity with building interior maintenance tasks such as painting, drywall repair, and general handyman skills. Ability to read technical schematics and operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration. Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to prioritize safety protocols and quality standards. Experience working with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO) supplies and understanding of facilities equipment maintenance best practices.
