Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Die and Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in various manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery and cutting-edge techniques in a dynamic environment dedicated to innovation and craftsmanship. Responsibilities Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to develop detailed tool designs. Set up and operate CNC machining centers including CNC lathe, milling machines, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to produce precise tooling components. Program CNC machines utilizing CAM programming to optimize machining processes for efficiency and accuracy. Fabricate tooling parts through manual machining techniques using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments to meet strict quality standards. Perform welding and fabrication tasks necessary for tool assembly or repair, ensuring structural integrity and durability. Conduct regular maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of machinery to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Inspect finished tools using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions against specifications; document inspection results for quality control purposes. Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret schematics and mechanical blueprints for complex tooling projects involving plastics injection molding or stamping presses. Maintain a clean, organized shop environment while adhering to safety protocols related to metal machining, grinding, welding, and electrical systems. Skills Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks and AutoCAD for designing tooling components. Strong experience with CNC programming and operation of CNC lathe, milling machine, EDM equipment, and CAM software. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precise measurement and quality assurance. Hands-on experience with plastics injection molding tooling or stamping press tooling fabrication. Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with shop math proficiency for accurate fabrication. Skilled in manual machining techniques using hand tools, grinders, mills, lathes, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments. Ability to interpret schematics related to electrical systems or mechanical assemblies involved in toolmaking processes. Experience with maintenance operations on manufacturing equipment (MRO), troubleshooting machinery issues promptly. Familiarity with welding techniques necessary for tool assembly or repair tasks. Strong understanding of metal machining processes including milling, grinding, drilling, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
