Qualifications:
Masters degree in counseling and guidance from a regionally accredited college or university Valid certificate as a guidance counselor
Preferred:
Valid Arizona teacher certification
Responsibilities:
Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and comply with education department and local school board policies Advise individuals or groups to support growth in self-awareness, communication, and decision-making Assist students in resolving academic and affective challenges as they arise Help students recognize and build upon their strengths within the educational setting Guide students in developing coping skills for educational demands Identify student needs and collaborate with teachers and staff to address health, attitude, or learning issues Serve as a bridge between the school, families, and external support agencies, including facilitating referrals as needed Provide vocational guidance and support students exploring various career options Organize and conduct testing programs, sharing outcomes with stakeholders Keep all student records confidential and attend meetings related to student support (IEPs, staffing, conferences) Develop and lead workshops for staff and parents, assist with registration, and support new staff orientation Participate in staff motivational programs and policy implementation Supervise student activities during the regular workday both in and out of classrooms Take part in faculty meetings and committees, and sponsor student activities as assigned Maintain flexibility in assignment within the workday to support overall school goals Step into a meaningful role where your expertise in counseling helps foster positive educational outcomes.
