Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role as a Mental Health Specialist supporting elementary students in a dynamic educational environment near Lake Orion, MI. In this contract opportunity for the 2025-2026 school year, you will serve general education students, nurturing their social-emotional growth and providing vital mental health support. Your expertise will also benefit classrooms and buildings across various settings, from leading small groups to contributing to staff professional learning and implementing positive behavioral programs.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required—no exceptions. Current LARA license in Michigan (in counseling, psychology, social work, or therapy, as appropriate).
MDE credentialed master's level school psychologist
Licensed master's level social worker or school social worker
Limited licensed master's level social worker (with supervision)
Licensed master's level marriage and family therapist
Licensed master's level professional counselor or limited license (with supervision)
Valid School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor credentials (with stipulation of pursuing appropriate counselor licensing within 24 months) Commitment to collaborating with staff, students, and families to foster resilience and positive behaviors.
Experience working in school environments or supporting youth preferred.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group counseling to general education elementary students. Support classroom and building-wide initiatives in social-emotional learning and positive behavior programs.
