Job Overview Second shift 3-11pm We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Crisis Intervention Counselor to join our team at a domestic violence shelter. In this vital role, you will provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and counseling services to survivors of domestic violence. Your expertise will help empower individuals to rebuild their lives, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and informed throughout their recovery journey. Responsibilities Offer immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to shelter residents experiencing distress or safety concerns Conduct thorough assessments of clients' needs, developing personalized safety plans and care strategies Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on healing, empowerment, and coping skills Collaborate with child protective services, family law professionals, and other community agencies to coordinate care and ensure child welfare Maintain detailed case records, confidentiality protocols, and documentation of client progress and incidents Provide guidance on behavioral health issues, including trauma recovery, conflict management, and behavioral health concerns Assist in developing educational workshops for residents on topics such as safety planning, legal rights, and healthy relationships. This position is Tuesday-Saturday, 8am-4pm. Requirements Proven experience working with children and families in crisis intervention or social work settings Knowledge of child welfare systems, child protective services procedures, and family law principles Strong understanding of crisis management techniques and conflict resolution strategies Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism, and discretion Relevant certifications or training in behavioral health, social work, or related fields preferred Familiarity with childcare practices and trauma-informed care approaches is highly desirable Join us in making a lasting impact by providing vital support to survivors of domestic violence.
