Onsite 5 days a week required Requirements Engineer - Infotainment Systems & Feature Decomposition

Job Summary The Requirements Engineer is responsible for defining, analyzing, and decomposing high-level customer, vehicle, and business requirements into detailed functional and technical requirements that can be implemented by software development teams and suppliers. This role serves as the bridge between product planning, system architecture, validation organizations, software developers, and global stakeholders to ensure that customer-facing features are translated into clear, testable, and traceable requirements throughout the development lifecycle

The position requires strong systems-thinking skills, the ability to understand complex infotainment architectures, and expertise in requirements engineering methodologies. The engineer will collaborate with client development teams, suppliers, and international stakeholders to ensure requirements are complete, technically feasible, and aligned with program objectives.

Key Responsibilities Requirements Analysis & Decomposition

• Analyze customer, market, regulatory, and vehicle-level requirements.
  
• Perform structured decomposition of high-level feature requirements into system, subsystem, software, interface, and component-level requirements.
  
• Translate customer expectations and functional concepts into language that can be executed by software development teams.
  
• Ensure requirements are clear, unambiguous, measurable, testable, and traceable.
  
• Develop use cases, feature behavior descriptions, user stories, and system workflows to support implementation activities. Systems Engineering
  
• Understand infotainment system architecture, software-hardware interactions, communication interfaces, and feature dependencies.
  
• Define functional allocations across ECUs, applications, middleware, operating systems, and connected services.
  
• Support architecture discussions to ensure requirements align with system capabilities and constraints.
• Identify gaps, conflicts, and inconsistencies within requirements and coordinate resolution activities. Stakeholder Collaboration
  
• Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, development teams, validation teams, suppliers, and Honda Japan counterparts.
  
• Facilitate requirement review workshops and technical discussions.
  
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Drive alignment among global teams regarding feature intent, scope, assumptions, and implementation strategy.
  Requirements Management & Traceability
  
• Author and maintain requirements documentation within requirements management tools.
  
• Establish bidirectional traceability from customer requirements through implementation and validation artifacts.
  
• Support change management activities and evaluate impacts of requirement modifications.
• Ensure compliance with organizational development processes and quality standards.
  Verification & Validation Support
  
• Define acceptance criteria and verification methods for requirements.
  
• Collaborate with validation engineers to ensure test coverage of requirements.
  
• Support defect investigations by tracing issues back to requirement definitions.
  
• Participate in feature reviews, integration testing, and system evaluations.
  Strategic Feature Development
  
• Research emerging infotainment technologies and industry trends.
  
• Support future feature planning and roadmap activities.
  
• Evaluate innovative solutions and propose improvements to enhance customer experience and system quality.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
