Job Description
Job Overview The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and managing plumbing materials and supplies to support contract and commercial field operations This role requires strong coordination with vendors, project managers, and warehouse staff. Proficiency in construction management software to support job costing, purchasing, and project documentation is required. Key Responsibilities
- Purchase plumbing materials, equipment, and supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Create, manage, and track purchase orders within our internal systems
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Field Supervisors to ensure materials align with project schedules and specifications
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with stock replenishment planning
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, backorders, and returns
- Verify order accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and process credits or returns as needed
- Support job costing by ensuring materials are properly coded and allocated in our internal systems
- Maintain vendor relationships and assist in negotiating pricing and terms
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and internal controls
- Assist with warehouse organization, staging and material tracking. Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, Buyer, or similar role (construction or plumbing industry preferred)
- Working knowledge of construction management software is required
- Strong understanding of plumbing materials, parts, and equipment
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, warehouse staff, and field personnel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a plumbing or construction warehouse environment
- Familiarity with job costing and construction project workflows
- Experience working with multiple vendors and managing high-volume purchasing Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Standing, walking, and light physical activity throughout the workday
