Job Description
Job OverviewThe Senior Buyer - Electro-Mechanical Products is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for precision electro-mechanical components and commodities. This role manages supplier performance, purchasing activities, inventory levels, cost reduction initiatives, and supply chain disruptions while supporting quality and compliance requirements, including AS9100 standards.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute procurement strategies for electro-mechanical products and components.
Create and manage purchase orders, including quantities, pricing, and supplier delivery dates.
Maintain accurate open purchase order lines and monitor inbound material requirements.
Manage supplier performance, including on-time delivery and quality metrics.
Drive supplier corrective actions and resolve quality, delivery, and process deficiencies.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and procurement strategies to achieve the best total landed cost.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels while supporting cost management objectives.
Analyze and manage MRP data to support production and purchasing requirements.
Partner with internal teams to expedite purchase requisitions and resolve supply chain issues.
Identify and source alternative suppliers when necessary.
Escalate supply chain disruptions, order discrepancies, and contract-related issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving opportunities.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other internal teams.
Support purchasing processes and documentation required for AS9100 and
Manage purchasing activities involving EDI platforms, import logistics, and international commercial terms.
Travel internationally as required.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field required.
Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience purchasing precision electro-mechanical components or commodities preferred.
Strong experience with MRP and/or ERP systems.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.
Strong supplier management, negotiation, and contract management skills.
Experience with supplier performance metrics, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain operations.
Understanding of AS9100 and
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of EDI purchasing platforms.
Understanding of import logistics and International Commercial Terms (Incoterms).Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
CPM or CPIM certification is preferred.
