Product Sourcing Manager
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Product Sourcing Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of food sourcing for the food bank. This position requires executing department functions in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy. The coordinator assists in acquiring both purchased and donated incoming products, ensuring the highest quality at the best possible prices, and meeting the needs of the food bank and its partner agencies. Regular interaction with vendors and donors, along with some data reporting, is an integral part of this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist with acquiring purchased and donated products for the food bank, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. Maintain and develop good relationships with vendors and donors, regularly interacting to learn about and acquire product offerings. Collaborate with all product sources, including purchase vendors, donors, farms, USDA, FBCM, and FA partner food banks, to meet sourcing needs. Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to stay informed about new products and explore potential new vendors. Analyze purchase reports and data to track historic prices and identify product needs. Address issues with vendors regarding unacceptable or defective products, working to determine corrective solutions. Lead food show gleaning volunteers and coordinate food drives to maximize product acquisition. Provide back-up support to the Product Sourcing Manager, especially in acquisition processes. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Strong mathematical skills for accurate data analysis and financial transactions. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with close attention to detail. Proficiency in the Primarius Software system or similar inventory management systems. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and volunteer management. Experience and knowledge of warehouse procedures and safety protocols. Valid Michigan driver's license. Ability to travel within the service area as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily functions in an office environment but may require occasional lifting, standing, and extended periods of sitting.
