Job Description

The General Dynamics Land Systems Summer 2027 Internship Program provides an opportunity for students to look to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. As part of your summer experience, you will join our team and use your education, experience, and creativity to make an impact. This internship supports the relationship between GD Land Systems and its suppliers by assisting with buying, planning and expediting parts.

Responsibilities May Include:
Learn and support the full range of responsibilities associated with the Procurement role.

Use of and learn Oracle system for material needsAssist with the solicitation and preparation of Request for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Request for Information (RFIs)Learn and perform cost analysis of proposals, price and cost analysis of supplier quotesSupport proposal fact finding activitiesLearn and participate in proposal negotiations (including cost and terms and conditions)Prepare, place and help administer Purchase Order preparation, placement to assure subcontractor compliance.

Learn how to administer Subcontracts and Purchase orders, control costs and help ensure on-time delivery to support program requirementsWill help buying activities including analysis of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) needsMay serve as a focal point between the suppliers and GDLS functional departments and program officesHelp manage quality, design and payment issues with our subcontractors and suppliersWill help support GD Land Systems compliance with applicable procurement laws and regulationsLearn and help support the administration of Purchase Order kick off meetings and on-site program reviews with suppliersReview and analyze planning to assure Subcontracts / Purchase orders are placed within supplier lead-timeHelp support and Exped parts as required to support program schedulesOther duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Enrolled in Bachelor's Degree in a Business, Supply chain Management or a related field at an accredited university or college.

Sophomore class standing or higher preferredAbility to use and learn Oracle system and associated computer systemsStrong communication (oral and written) and problem solving skillsDemonstrated business acumenMust be able to compose professional emails and other business correspondenceYou will work in a team environment to meet objectives and performance metricsMust be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, provide timely updates, with all stakeholders.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteComfortable doing presentations when neededAdditional InformationThis position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.
