  • Electronics Manufacturing (High-Mix / Low-Volume PCBA) Salem, Oregon
  • On-site (some remote flexibility)
  • Full-Time Join Our Team We are looking for a hands-on Buyer to support purchasing and material planning in our fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
This is an individual-contributor role:
you'll spend most of your time placing and managing purchase orders, sourcing components, and keeping materials flowing on the shop floor — not sitting in meetings or managing a department. You'll work closely with two part-time buyers to keep purchasing coverage consistent, but day-to-day this is a doing role, not a supervising one. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience buying for Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing or a similar electronics/EMS environment, and is comfortable working within ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Issue, track, and expedite purchase orders for electronic components, PCBs, fabricated parts, mechanical assemblies, and indirect materials. Source components and place orders with approved suppliers, including hard-to-find or long-lead-time parts during shortages. To support Engineering and the NPI process, source plastic, metal, harnesses, and other materials and place orders with approved suppliers. Maintain accurate purchasing records and open PO status within the ERP/MRP system. Follow up directly with suppliers on order confirmations, lead times, pricing, and delivery schedules. Coordinate day-to-day workload and priorities with the two part-time buyers to ensure consistent purchasing coverage. Support Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing by procuring parts for New Product Introduction (NPI) builds and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Help identify and qualify alternate sources for components affected by allocation, obsolescence, or supply disruptions. Maintain supplier documentation needed for traceability and counterfeit-avoidance requirements. Flag material shortages, cost changes, or delivery risks to the team early so production isn't caught off guard. Qualifications 2+ years of purchasing, buying, or procurement experience (electronics manufacturing or EMS strongly preferred). Comfortable working with electronic components — semiconductors, passives, connectors, cable assemblies, or similar. Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) or willingness to learn ours (CETEC ERP) quickly. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing many open orders at once. Good communicator who can work directly with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues. Preferred Qualifications Experience in an ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified manufacturing environment. Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) as they relate to supplier quality. Experience sourcing components during industry shortages or allocation events. Background supporting aerospace, defense, industrial, or medical electronics manufacturing.
