Job Description

Job Summary:
The Millwork Buyer is responsible for purchasing all millwork items to be sold by the company taking into consideration costs, quality, lead-time, and logistics involved in the procurement process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. 1. Place both stock and special order in a timely manner 2. Follow set procedures and practices and ensure all purchasing documents are properly completed 3. Assist with the coordination of product transfers within the millwork category 4. Monitor inventory levels including turns, out of stocks, adjustments, and margins 5. Oversee physical inventory counts, cycles counts, and year-end inventory process within the millwork category 6. Analyze all new and existing products within the millwork category 7. Maintain and print price labels for all locations 8. Communicate with fellow purchasing staff as well as other departments regarding new products, vendors, product availability and lead-times 9. Schedule meetings for general managers and salespeople on product training and for purchasing staff 10. Work with general managers, store and yard associates keeping inventory levels accurate and up to date 11. Serve as a resource to buyers, purchasing staff, and sales team at all locations 12. Vendor relations including meeting with new and existing vendors; vendor negotiations and development of special programs 13. Attend buying shows and training seminars to keep up to date in the industry 14. Keep abreast on changes in the market, new product developments, and evaluate suppliers' services Requirements 1. Requires Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management or minimum 2-3 years in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management in the lumber or millwork industry (or related field). 2. Must have experience in the building materials industry or finish trade or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience 3. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, self-motivated, sense of pride and urgency, personable, well organized Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally, larger or heavier items might need to be moved, though this would often be assisted by equipment or other team members. Travel to remote locations via car required and travel to buying shows by car or airplane.
