Job Description
Position Summary The Dispatcher serves as the operational control center of Weber's transportation operation by synchronizing drivers, equipment, customer requirements, and changing operating conditions to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services. This position anticipates operational challenges, communicates proactively, and exercises sound judgment to protect customer commitments while maximizing driver productivity and equipment utilization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Leadership
- Protect the customer experience by anticipating service disruptions and executing timely recovery plans.
- Build customer confidence through proactive communication, responsiveness, and consistent execution.
- Act with urgency to resolve issues while protecting Weber's reputation. Operational Leadership
- Synchronize drivers, equipment, routes, and customer requirements to execute the daily transportation plan.
- Anticipate operational disruptions and adjust resources before service failures occur.
- Balance customer priorities, driver availability, Hours of Service, equipment capacity, and operational constraints.
- Exercise sound judgment by knowing when to reprioritize, escalate, or adapt to changing operating conditions.
- Maintain situational awareness through disciplined execution and clear communication. Team Leadership
- Build credibility with drivers through fairness, consistency, professionalism, and respect.
- Enable driver success by providing timely, accurate, and actionable information.
- Collaborate across departments to achieve shared objectives. Financial Stewardship
- Maximize productive driver hours and equipment utilization.
- Minimize unnecessary miles, delays, detention, and overtime.
- Support Weber's financial objectives through disciplined resource management. Safety & Compliance
- Make safety the first consideration in every dispatch decision.
- Monitor Hours of Service and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure transportation activities comply with company policies and customer requirements. Continuous Improvement
- Challenge existing processes and recommend practical improvements.
- Identify recurring trends and sustainable corrective actions.
- Support implementation of new customers, technology, and operating procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but provides daily operational direction to drivers during transportation execution. Qualifications Must Have
- Three (3) years of progressive transportation experience in dispatch, routing, customer service, or transportation operations.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced transportation environment.
- Experience coordinating drivers while balancing customer service, operational priorities, and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Proven ability to anticipate problems, adapt quickly, and maintain composure under changing operating conditions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation technology platforms. Good to Have
- Retail store delivery, dedicated fleet, multi-stop distribution, or final mile experience.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Route optimization or transportation planning experience.
- Experience supporting customer-facing transportation operations.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
