PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Emergency Management and School Safety Clerk will report directly to the Emergency Management Coordinator. The clerk will assist with routine work activities of the Emergency Management and School Safety Office. The clerk will perform data entry and maintain a variety of records, both computerized and hard copy. In accordance with department policies and procedures, gathers and processes data and generates related reports as requested. QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Graduate/GED from an accredited institution
Preferred:
2 years job-related experience
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Effective communication and interpersonal skills Excellent customer service skills Self motivated, detail oriented, and ability to work independently Possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet timelines Proficient in use of computer and Microsoft Office Applications Ability to work well under pressure and to a deadline with attention to detail Functions, procedures and practices of school safety and emergency center operations
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Performs administrative duties for the Emergency Management Coordinator, including but not limited to, scheduling appointments, answering phones, maintaining calendar and other typical clerical duties Responds to incoming telephone calls directing inquiries to appropriate staff, including answering questions from parents, community, outside agencies and staff Orders and maintains office and safety supplies Maintain confidentiality at all times Assist with departmental events as needed Organize set-up for training sessions Assist with preparing spreadsheets and presentations Assist in proofreading and formatting various emergency plans Assist with maintenance of Emergency Management and School Safety website Maintain Emergency Management records of high-value equipment such as Automated External Defibrillators, Bleeding Control Kits, Evacuation Chairs, Radios, etc. Track support tickets for district-wide Emergency Management software applications Provides technical assistance for district-wide Emergency Management software applications in concert with the Emergency Management Coordinator Provide monthly drill reports for district-wide Emergency Management application Perform all other duties as assigned by the Emergency Management Coordinator
WORKING CONDITIONS
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions and the ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Overtime is required as necessary.
