Position summary:
JMT is seeking a Construction Manager to be responsible for managing a large scale water and wastewater treatment facilities.Project team member responsible for:
(1) providing construction project oversite using knowledge of general engineering and construction principles and practices to interpret, organize, coordinate, communicate and execute assignments as necessary to accomplish the goals and objectives defined by the client, (2) ensuring work is performed and completed in strict accordance with the contract documents, (3) acting as a technical advisor to the Owner and other team members, (4) teaching and mentoring less experienced engineers and other team members, and (5) other tasks as may be required. Responsible for delivering assigned projects including; scope, schedule and budget. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g.H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT
) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop Project Management Plans (PMP) for assigned projects Provide construction management oversight during all phases of the project Create and maintain project schedules Prepare and update cost estimates Prepare and maintain project budgets Develop and implement project specific QA programs Manage sub-consultants and technical resources Coordinate and interface with the client and project team Manage and coordinate inspection staff Manage project schedule from inception to close out Run project job-site meetings Review contractor work in place to ensure compliance with plans and specifications Review and approve contractor monthly requisitions and invoices Efficient change order management and cost control Report on project issues and provide status updates Develop and prepare extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals Nonessential functions and responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective leadership skills for managing and mentoring field staff Ability to take charge and effectively manage contractors to meet project schedule Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations with 10HR OSHA Safety card The ability to work well with others, and willingness to learn in a team environment Ability to evaluate contractor provided construction CPM schedules, including logic and sequencing Required Experience Minimum of 10+ years of construction experience serving as a Construction Manager, Construction Management Representative, Owner's Representative or project manager Minimum of 5 years water/wastewater facilities construction management experience Multiple construction trades and close coordination with the Owner on construction issues Knowledge and experience working with Municipalities on project costs and budgets, processing change requests, requests for information, submittals, and inspectors' daily reports Experience using project management/document management software (examples include: Unifier, Procore, eBuilder, etc) to communicate construction progress and process documentation Experience reviewing engineering designs, contractor shop drawings and/or vendor specifications and plans, or similar, to determine constructability and practicality of proposed work and adherence to established standards and requirements Preferred Experience Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour construction safety training Commissioning and outage experience with water/wastewater plants Working Conditions Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required. Travel may be required.
