Job Description
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This is a seasonal position reporting to Northville Maintenance Center. The FOA2 is to assist a Trades Generalist in various maintenance projects at NYSDEC operated facilities, including but not limited to, 5 campgrounds, several boat-launches, Northville Office, and Northville Sign shop. Daily tasks vary with the needs of DEC's recreation program. Repairs to septic, water and electrical systems, construction projects, assisting in hazardous tree removal, light mechanical work, delivering supplies and equipment, landscaping and lawn-care, operating forklifts and heavy machinery, organizing, cleaning. This position will also assist with the Navigational Aides program. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Boater's license with proficiency in the use of boats and boat trailers is preferred. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2027. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
Must have certification to operate motorized boats or personal watercrafts at time of appointment.
