Compensation:
Exempt, $47.46/HR - $67.80/

Job Summary:
The Facility Manager leads the Facilities Engineering department, oversees District-wide physical plant operations, supervises employees and contractors, and participates in department leader initiatives. The Manager is responsible for facility repairs and maintenance, groundskeeping, and medical equipment repairs and maintenance to ensure consistent reliability of plant operations and medical equipment functionality. The Manager participates in the planning and management of large facility repairs, replacement systems, and construction projects. The Manager is responsible for the successful completion of regulatory surveys related to the condition of physical plant and medical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and oversight for physical plant operations and life safety systems, including needs assessments, planning, installation, testing, preventative maintenance, ongoing support, and inspections. Collaborates with Finance and the CFO for budgeting for these items. Ensures proper operations of buildings and grounds through managing, maintaining, and regulating systems such as building envelope, structural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire control, and pressure steam systems. Manages district properties and medical equipment. Monitors the condition, care and maintenance of equipment. Facilitates collaboration between clinical and BioMed staff to recommend new and replacement medical equipment purchases. Plans for refinements and upgrades in facilities and related services. Collaborates with Finance and the CFO for cost analysis of services including maintenance contracts, collaborative agreements, and new purchases. Actively participates in the planning and management of facility repairs and construction projects. Manages both small- and large-scale projects. Supervises department staff. Plans and directs workflow and operations to facilitate consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations. Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably. Responsible for operating company vehicles to travel to and from off-site district locations to maintain facilities, as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate s degree in Facilities Management, Business or Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Bachelor s degree in one of these fields is preferred. In lieu of an associates degree, a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or mechanical systems management in a healthcare environment may be accepted. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building systems management, or engineering within a healthcare or hospital environment. Five (5) years supervisory or leadership experience managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams, including mechanics and technicians. Required Licenses, Certifications and/or
Registrations:
Valid Washington State driver s license. DNV Certified Healthcare Operations Professional Basic (CHOP-B) or AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification required within 18 months of employment. DNV Certified Healthcare Operations Professional Advance (CHOP-A) or AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification required within 3 years of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to provide technical direction and maintenance support to facility operations personnel. Experience in facilities and construction project management. Experience in effectively forecasting and tracking project costs. Experience in property management, preventive maintenance, building engineering. Strong background in electrical and mechanical systems. Coordination with outside contract work for construction or repair. Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations with respect to construction and the maintenance of equipment and facilities, specifically, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), (FGI) and Uniform Building Code. Ability to develop and work to a schedule, as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to cultivate working relationships with internal and external customers to understand their needs, respond quickly to their requests, and provide feedback in a timely manner. Work with craft employees in a union environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to schedule and work with a team of maintenance technicians, engineers, oversight, and management staff.
