Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Chief Development Officer is to lead the development, marketing, volunteer, and communications activities of the organization in an effective manner. This position specifically addresses these outcomes:
  • To increase the number of donors & revenue
  • Increase volunteer resources
  • Increase the effectiveness of volunteer leadership through giving Increase/maintain Young Professionals Committee engagement through 100% engagement
Job Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and / or ability required to accomplish this employment expectation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible fundraising and marketing experience in a nonprofit setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities
  • Demonstrated success in program special event fundraising, proposal writing, and grant management
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing development plans, program reporting
  • Proven experience with volunteer management
  • Marketing and communication experience with social media, newsletters, annual reports, email campaigns, websites, among others
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and networking skills verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft, donor database and special events management platforms
  • Passion for the mission-driven work and ethical fundraising practices Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential
  • Knowledge of the community's resources and funding sources
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities Essential Duties and Responsibilities /

Plan, implement, and manage annual development plan, including special events Ensure timely recognition of donors and volunteers Direct the agency's marketing and public relations programs Direct the volunteer program, empower volunteer leaders to fundraise Generate new ideas to increase revenue and donors Report progress to leadership team and board Build relationships with new donors and strengthen relationships with existing donors
