Greenwood House is seeking an accomplished and relationship-driven Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and strengthen our fundraising program, with a primary focus on major gifts and donor engagement. For more than 85 years, Greenwood House has cared for older adults and their families, providing skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, home care, hospice, Meals on Wheels, and other services that help people live with dignity and independence. The Opportunity Reporting to the CEO/Executive Director and working closely with the Board of Directors, Foundation Board, and key volunteers, the Chief Development Officer will lead Greenwood House's major gift efforts and help build a stronger culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Identify and qualify new major gift prospects and develop individualized donor strategies. Conduct donor visits and meetings and prepare and execute major gift solicitations. Build long-term donor relationships by connecting philanthropic interests with Greenwood House's mission and priorities. Develop proposals, briefing materials, donor communications, and meaningful stewardship opportunities. Partner with the CEO/Executive Director, board members, and volunteers to advance fundraising relationships and opportunities. Help establish annual fundraising goals, major gift strategies, and campaign plans. Prepare Greenwood House for a future comprehensive campaign by strengthening donor relationships, volunteer leadership, the case for support, and philanthropic momentum. Supervise and provide direction to the Development Associate, who supports the Annual Fund, special events, donor communications, stewardship, and development operations. Help establish effective systems and processes that maximize donor engagement and fundraising activity. Qualifications The ideal candidate will bring: At least 5 years of fundraising experience, including significant major gift experience. A demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors. Experience managing a portfolio of donors and prospects. Experience working effectively with boards, volunteers, and senior leadership. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Experience with donor databases and fundraising systems. Supervisory or management experience. The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the leadership team.
