Job Summary:

In order to develop a model Early Childhood Development System that works across sectors, the First Things First Colorado River Indian Tribes Regional Council has funded the CRIT Library/Archives a Community Based Literacy grant to enhance early literacy and provide family support. The overall goal is to provide citizens; to afford the children to inter school appropriately developed, health and ready to read and succeed. Funding is provided for a part time position to advocate for the support meaningful and sustainable improvements and outreach to all sectors of the community.

Duties & Functions:

(The following are illustrations of the typical duties and responsibilities of the incumbent and are not to be construed as all inclusive.) Under the direct supervision of the Director of the CRIT Library/ Archives, the Early Literacy Coordinator (ELC) manages and administers the programmatic and daily functions of the Community Based Literacy grant. The ELC will be responsible for scheduling early literacy activities; implementing research-based strategies; engaging participating by way of creating working collaborations with community agencies, including La Paz Crisis Shelter, families, potential stakeholders, as well as those identified in the grant for the promotion of Early Literacy and Early Childhood Development; scheduling/preparing for community events; and attending meetings and trainings as directed. Provide educational awareness and disperse information on Early Literacy and Early Childhood Development to maximize resources and improve outcomes, Prepare, monitor and process accurate monthly and quarterly reports, and maintain files for all outreach contacts. Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook Required Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrate ability with and knowledge of computers, writing and accounting skills. Be punctual and dependable, willing to attend out of area trainings. Knowledge about the community within the Colorado River Indian Tribes and Town of Parker. Have ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining working relationships with the general public, funding agencies, program supervisor, staff, and to work harmoniously with co-workers. Practice good organizational skills, be task oriented and self-motivated.

Education & Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent. At Least two (2) years' experience working with families of children birth to five or within an early childhood development setting (health experience may be considered). Possess experience working with tribal communities; be inclusive of culture and sensitive to traditions of the community. Employment is subject to fingerprinting for the purpose of conducting a background review of possible criminal history in accordance with P.E. 101-630, Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act. The Colorado River Indian Tribes shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate's ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. The background check includes personal and professional reference checks, credit history checks, Social Security Number verifications professional license/registration verification, military service information and driving history. Information obtained in the course of this background check will be considered by the appointed authority in the selection process. Must possess a current valid driver's license.

Physical Requirement:

Physically able to perform duties assigned. Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, some weekends.
