Job Description

The City of Hampton is looking for a Pretrial Officer - Behavioral Health Docket ! This position provides pretrial supervision, support, and guidance to defendants referred by the courts to the Criminal Justice Agency and serves as a key liaison between the Hampton Courts, the Community Services Board and other critical stakeholders.. The role focuses on monitoring compliance with court-ordered conditions, promoting accountability, and connecting individuals to appropriate community-based resources to support successful case outcomes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in case management, and committed to upholding public safety while supporting individuals through the judicial system with professionalism and integrity. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university or a closely related field of study. Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in case management or a closely related experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must possess or obtain VCIN certification within 90 days of employment. This position is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion. This position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, and the continuation of employment is subject to the renewal or extension of the grant. Additional Requirements The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
