Production Planner/Analyst

Job Description

Role Summary The Production Planner/Analyst is responsible for translating sales demand, inventory levels, and shop floor capacity into an executable production schedule. This role bridges planning and execution — ensuring manufacturing orders are released in the right sequence and quantity to meet customer demand while minimizing stockouts, excess inventory, and production disruptions. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain the production schedule by balancing sales forecasts, open orders, on-hand inventory, and available capacity across work centers. Release and prioritize manufacturing orders (MOs) in the ERP system, adjusting sequencing in response to material shortages, equipment downtime, or urgent orders. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to identify stockout or overstock risks before they impact production or sales. Analyze production data (throughput, cycle times, schedule adherence, scrap/yield) to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements. Coordinate with purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, and warehouse teams to resolve material availability issues, engineering changes, and capacity constraints. Maintain accurate BOMs, routings, and lead times in the ERP system to ensure planning data reflects actual production capabilities. Generate and present regular reporting on production performance, schedule attainment, and inventory health to management. Support new product introductions by developing initial production plans and identifying capacity or material needs. Required Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related manufacturing/supply chain role. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (production scheduling, inventory management, BOM/routing maintenance). Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel. Understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and inventory principles (safety stock, reorder points, lead times). Excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate between planning, production, purchasing, and engineering. Ability to prioritize and adapt schedules quickly in response to changing conditions on the shop floor. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Odoo (Manufacturing, Inventory, and Purchase modules) is strongly preferred. Experience with data tools such as SQL or Python/pandas for production and inventory analysis. Background in a small-to-mid-size manufacturing environment with multiple product lines.
