Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our team and drive the seamless flow of goods and materials across our supply chain network. The Logistics & Transportation Coordinator provides high-level oversight of the shipping department at Sunspace USA's United States facility and plans and coordinates domestic freight throughout the United States and cross-border shipments between Canada and the United States. The role oversees shipping priorities and execution while owning carrier sourcing, rate and service management, shipment execution, customs coordination, and the effective use of Sunspace USA's small private fleet alongside common carriers in the St. Louis market. Responsibilities Provide high-level oversight of the shipping department at the United States facility, including daily priorities, workflow coordination, shipment readiness, loading activity, and execution against customer commitments. Coordinate with shipping personnel and facility leadership to address capacity, staffing coverage, equipment, documentation, safety, quality, and service issues that could affect outbound performance. Monitor shipping department performance, reinforce standard processes, and escalate operational risks or resource requirements to the appropriate leadership team members. Plan, route, schedule, and monitor inbound and outbound shipments across the United States. Coordinate the use of company-owned trucks and drivers, supplementing capacity with common carriers and brokers. Balance delivery timing, service requirements, equipment availability, and total freight cost. Proactively resolve missed pickups, delays, damages, capacity constraints, and delivery exceptions. Source, qualify, and maintain a dependable network of truckload, less-than-truckload, flatbed, specialized, and brokerage partners. Initially develop carrier capacity in the Greater St. Louis area, then expand coverage across Sunspace USA shipping lanes. Request and compare quotes, negotiate rates, and support freight bids and transportation agreements. Monitor carrier service, claims, responsiveness, safety documentation, and insurance status. Coordinate shipments moving between Canada and the United States, including import and export documentation and customs-broker communication. Prepare, review, or coordinate commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other required shipping documents. Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to support accurate and timely border clearance. Maintain shipment records and escalate documentation, classification, duty, tariff, or clearance issues to the appropriate internal or external resource. Stay current on Canada-U.S. trade and customs requirements applicable to the company's products and shipping activity. Analyze freight spend, lanes, shipment consolidation opportunities, backhauls, routing choices, and fleet-versus-common-carrier decisions. Validate carrier invoices and accessorial charges and support resolution of billing discrepancies and freight claims. Develop regular reporting for freight cost, on-time pickup and delivery, carrier performance, private-fleet utilization, claims, and border delays. Identify and implement practical improvements that increase service reliability, transportation capacity, and cost control. Coordinate daily with Sales, Customer Service, Production, Shipping, Purchasing, Finance, and company drivers. Align transportation plans with production readiness, customer commitments, receiving capacity, and shipment priorities. Communicate shipment status, risks, delays, recovery plans, and cost impacts clearly to stakeholders. Qualifications 5 or more years of hands-on transportation, freight, logistics, dispatch, or carrier-management experience. Demonstrated experience planning U.S. domestic shipments and sourcing common carriers. Practical Canada-U.S. import/export and customs-broker coordination experience. Working knowledge of truckload and less-than-truckload transportation, rates, accessorials, claims, and shipping documents. Experience coordinating a small private fleet and outside carrier capacity preferred. Experience providing operational oversight or coordination within a shipping, warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with flatbed, oversized, building-product, or manufactured-product freight preferred. Proficiency with ERP or transportation systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong negotiation, organization, problem-solving, communication, and follow-through skills. Degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain, transportation, business, or equivalent practical experience. Performance Abilities Freight cost by lane, shipment, mile, and as a percentage of sales, where applicable. On-time pickup and delivery performance. Shipping department execution, including shipment readiness, loading accuracy, documentation accuracy, damage prevention, and on-time release. Carrier acceptance, service, claims, and invoice accuracy. Private-fleet utilization and outside-carrier spend. Customs clearance accuracy and border-delay frequency. Cost savings and service improvements implemented. Work Conditions Primarily office-based with regular interaction in shipping, receiving, yard, and transportation areas. Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to resolve urgent shipment, driver, carrier, customer, or border issues.
