JOB DESCRIPTION
The Schedule and Charge Entry Clerk is responsible for providing scheduling and charge capture for surgery, endoscopy, recovery room, and anesthesia procedures. This position schedules patient cases and verifies patient charges in the electronic medical record system (EMR). The Schedule and Charge Entry Clerk demonstrates a working knowledge of medical terminology and hospital surgical/endoscopy procedures, and demonstrates initiative and responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations within scope of position.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Medical Terminology Certificate required, or able to demonstrate a working knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures. Knowledge of computer software required, including Outlook, Word, SmartSheets and current EMR in use. Hospital or clinical office electronic scheduling experience preferred. Experience with electronic charge capture and vendor relationships preferred. Experience with EMR Inbasket messaging, block scheduling, and billing to include shell codes and applications preferred.
