Job Description

Position Overview Albion Machine & Tool is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our machining business. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong CNC machining and programming expertise combined with the ability to lead people, manage production, and work directly with customers and the shop floor. The Operations Manager will oversee production, scheduling, customer commitments, quoting and pricing, CNC programming, and process improvement while developing the capabilities of the machining team. Key Responsibilities Operations & People Leadership Lead the daily operation of the machining business and provide direction to the AMT team. Establish production priorities and coordinate jobs, people, machines, materials, outside services, and logistics. Manage production schedules to meet customer requirements and delivery commitments. Identify capacity constraints and adjust priorities and resources accordingly. Ensure jobs are properly staged with the required materials, tooling, programs, and information. Establish clear expectations and accountability while supporting employee training and technical development. Maintain a safe and productive working environment. Work directly with the shop team to resolve production and technical issues. Drive improvements in throughput, lead time, quality, efficiency, and profitability. CNC Programming & Technical Leadership Own CNC programming for AMT machine operations, including new and existing jobs. Develop and improve machining processes, setups, tooling strategies, and manufacturing methods. Troubleshoot programming, machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues. Support setup and prove-out new or difficult jobs. Maintain accurate programs, process notes, tooling information, setup documentation, and job information. Identify opportunities to reduce setup time, cycle time, tooling costs, and overall manufacturing costs. Provide technical guidance and training to machinists. Continuously improve machining processes and develop greater technical capability throughout the operation. Customer, Quoting & Pricing Maintain effective communication with customers regarding jobs, schedules, requirements, and issues. Develop quotes for new and existing machine work. Evaluate prints and requirements to determine manufacturing processes, machine selection, setup and cycle times, tooling, materials, and outside services. Establish pricing within appropriate levels of authority. Evaluate new opportunities based on AMT's capabilities, capacity, manufacturing cost, and business requirements. Make manufacturing and pricing decisions with an understanding of their impact on profitability. Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience in a CNC machining environment along with demonstrated leadership ability. 7+ years of CNC machining or closely related manufacturing experience preferred. Significant CNC programming experience required. Strong CNC milling and/or turning knowledge. Experience with machine setup, process development, tooling, workholding, and fixturing. Strong print-reading and problem-solving skills. Experience quoting and estimating machined components strongly preferred. Previous manufacturing leadership or operations management experience strongly preferred. Ability to lead and earn credibility with experienced machinists and technical employees. Strong understanding of production scheduling, machine capacity, quality, cost, and manufacturing efficiency. Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred; Epicor experience is a plus. GibbsCAM experience is a plus. Strong communication skills and a continuous-improvement mindset. What Success Looks Like The successful Operations Manager will build upon AMT's machining capabilities while developing a strong, accountable team. Success will be demonstrated through consistent customer delivery, effective production scheduling, high-quality CNC programming, improved setup and cycle times, increased machine utilization and productivity, sound quoting and pricing decisions, and continued improvement in quality, efficiency, and profitability.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
