Position Overview We are seeking a dependable, highly organized, and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee the daily delivery operations of an Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP). The Operations Manager will lead a team of Delivery Associates and Dispatchers, ensure routes are completed safely and efficiently, maintain high standards of attendance and performance, and help the company meet Amazon's operational and customer-service expectations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can manage a fast-paced operation, make sound decisions under pressure, hold employees accountable, and motivate a diverse team. This position requires schedule flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require. Primary ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations Oversee daily dispatch, route execution, and end-of-day operations. Ensure Delivery Associates arrive on time, are properly equipped, and are prepared for their assigned routes. Conduct morning stand-up meetings covering safety, performance expectations, route conditions, and operational updates. Monitor routes throughout the day and respond quickly to delays, callouts, vehicle issues, weather conditions, rescues, and other operational challenges. Coordinate driver rescues and route reassignments to support the successful completion of all scheduled deliveries. Ensure drivers return safely and complete all required end-of-day procedures. Communicate with Amazon station personnel regarding route assignments, operational concerns, and daily performance. Team Leadership and Accountability Lead, coach, motivate, and develop Delivery Associates and Dispatchers. Establish a professional workplace culture centered on safety, reliability, teamwork, accountability, and respect. Monitor attendance, punctuality, callouts, uniform compliance, and employee conduct. Provide documented coaching and corrective action when performance or conduct does not meet company expectations. Recognize strong performance and promote employee engagement and retention. Assist with employee scheduling to maintain adequate daily staffing. Conduct regular performance discussions and help employees improve safety, quality, and delivery efficiency. Safety and Compliance Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company policies, Amazon requirements, and applicable laws. Monitor safe-driving indicators, vehicle-inspection compliance, seatbelt use, distracted-driving events, speeding, following distance, and other safety metrics. Investigate accidents, injuries, property damage, customer complaints, and safety incidents. Ensure incidents are reported and documented promptly and accurately. Confirm that Delivery Associates complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Remove unsafe vehicles or drivers from service when appropriate. Support safety training and retraining initiatives. Performance Management Track and manage key operational measurements, including: On-time attendance and route departure; Successful route completion; Delivery quality; Customer delivery feedback; Safety performance; Delivery efficiency; Contact compliance; Photo-on-delivery quality; Returns and undelivered packages; Vehicle damage; and Employee retention. Review daily and weekly performance results and develop corrective-action plans when necessary. Identify performance trends and provide targeted coaching to individual employees. Work with ownership and senior management to achieve company performance and growth objectives. Staffing and Training Assist with interviewing, evaluating, and selecting Delivery Associate and Dispatcher candidates. Support onboarding, classroom training, ride-alongs, and initial route assignments. Confirm that new employees understand the physical demands, schedule, attendance expectations, and essential responsibilities of the position. Evaluate new drivers during their introductory period and recommend continued employment, additional training, or corrective action. Maintain staffing levels appropriate for scheduled route volume and anticipated employee absences. Fleet and Equipment Oversight Monitor the condition, availability, cleanliness, and readiness of delivery vehicles. Coordinate vehicle repairs, preventive maintenance, towing, roadside assistance, and temporary vehicle replacements. Track vehicle damage and ensure that new damage is reported and documented immediately. Maintain accountability for fuel cards, mobile devices, chargers, uniforms, keys, and other company-issued equipment. Help ensure the delivery fleet complies with applicable registration, inspection, insurance, and maintenance requirements. Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate operational, attendance, safety, disciplinary, and incident records. Prepare daily and weekly reports for company ownership or senior management. Assist with payroll verification, timecard review, schedule preparation, and attendance tracking. Participate in management meetings and communicate operational priorities to the team. Protect confidential employee, customer, and company information. Perform other operational duties reasonably required to support the business. Required Qualifications Previous experience in operations, transportation, logistics, delivery, warehouse management, retail management, hospitality management, or a comparable leadership role. Demonstrated experience supervising employees and holding teams accountable. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain calm and make responsible decisions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to use smartphones, computers, scheduling platforms, spreadsheets, messaging applications, and delivery-management systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when required. Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and applicable program requirements. Ability to pass all required employment screening and eligibility requirements. Ability to communicate professionally with employees, customers, Amazon station personnel, and company leadership. Preferred Qualifications Prior management experience with an Amazon DSP. Experience as an Amazon Delivery Associate, Dispatcher, Operations Manager, or Fleet Manager. Experience with FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, or another last-mile delivery operation. Familiarity with route monitoring, delivery metrics, workforce scheduling, fleet management, and accident reporting. Bilingual communication skills, particularly English and Spanish. Experience managing a workforce of 25 or more employees. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on management position. The Operations Manager may occasionally be required to: Enter and exit a delivery vehicle repeatedly; Lift, carry, and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds; Bend, reach, crouch, climb stairs, and walk for extended periods; Work outdoors in varying weather conditions; Assist with loading vehicles or completing deliveries; Drive a delivery route or conduct a rescue when properly qualified and operationally necessary; and Perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Schedule Expectations This is a full-time position requiring flexibility based on delivery volume and operational needs. The Operations Manager must be available during critical dispatch and return-to-station periods and may be required to work weekends, holidays, extended hours, or respond to urgent operational matters outside the regular schedule.
