An Operations Supervisor manages daily operations and activities for a company or organization. Primarily involved in supervising and coordinating the activities of front-line employees such as monitoring work progress, providing training, and ensuring compliance. Has authority over the work of their team members but typically reports to higher-level management.
Monday•Friday (Saturdays as scheduled)| 8:00am•5:00pm | Additional hours required as needed Purpose of Position Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to assemble parts by providing resources to associates in the areas of planning, assigning and training. Tasks of the Position Plan and maintain a safe work environment and exemplary safety performance. Meet KPI's and operating efficiency requirements. Lead by example positive business ethics as defined by MAI Companies core values. Plan manpower requirements to customer demands. Lead improvement activities in the plant. Support Continuous improvement initiatives, incorporate lean techniques within current processes. Develop positive relationships with customers. Maintain teamwork and communication within production department while supporting internal customers and suppliers. Lead and develop team leaders and associates. Enforce and support all Company policies. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to product specifications. Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment and resources to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work team. Coach and teach T/L to analyze and resolve work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Maintains time and production records. Assist with the development of capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Support new models and new business projects to ensure new model goals are met. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure SQCDM meets specifications. Understand customers' operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure products and services meet customers' expectations. Understand customer operating product needs and delivery requirements. Understand assembly process and manufacturing principles. Must have proven leadership skills and a track record of getting positive results through teambuilding. Must be able to assess and administer fair and honest performance reviews, monitor performance, and recommend constructive discipline as needed. Must be able to manage conflict and disputes with associates, co-workers, and managers. Must be able to set goals and priorities in order to meet all specification standards and shipping deadlines. Must be able to apply such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S Discipline, and Six Sigma . Must be able to identify skills and knowledge and apply training and mentoring as needed. Must possess interpersonal and communication skills to maintain a 360 degree positive relationship with everyone. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and make difficult manufacturing decisions. Must be able to establish positive rapport with employees, which will assist in creating a fear-free team environment. Must be able to demonstrate the use MS Office, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and quality specifications. Must be able to write clear concise routine reports and correspondence to employees and managers. Must be able to speak clearly and effectively to customers, managers and associates. Ability to perform Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Decimals and Fractions. Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and possess the skills to create visual graphs and illustrations. Must be able to apply knowledge and experience to carry out instructions required to meet the needs of the business in a professional manner. Must be able to deal with problems involving concrete variables in any situation. Must be proficient in verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compose and/or edit written materials. Must be able to establish working relationships with customers and colleagues. Must be able to efficiently organize, prioritize, problem solve, and mange time and conflict. Job Requirements Approximately 75% on the production floor. Approximately 25 % office desk work. 5 years of supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong leader with analytical, technical and people skills. ISO Compliance experience, able to write audit and review SOPs in compliance with ISO Standards. Excellent Team Player. Multi-task to lead several projects at any given time. Must be able to continuously lift 30 to 75 lbs. and occasionally carry 30 to 50 feet. Required to stand and walk around the plant for at least 8 hours a day. Primarily office and manufacturing floor based. Work daily assigned shift, on call 24/7 for emergencies and supply chain issues as needed. Support all company policies and Associate Handbook and Safety Manual. Supervisory Responsibility Manages a team which consists of Team Leaders and hourly associates. Responsible for the daily production activities as well as the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include leading, training, planning, prioritizing, communicating, evaluating, troubleshooting, delegating, influencing, mentoring, and motivating. Effectively assign daily job tasks, and redirect workloads; accurately evaluate and write performance reviews; apply positive rewards and recommend discipline as needed; readily address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner. Create and maintain a safe, productive, and highly effective environment through the use of Continuous Improvement tools. Qualification (Education / Training) Bachelor's degree is preferred, or 5 years of manufacturing experience and 3 years of experience supervising teams. Demonstrates a strong aptitude to manufacturing KPI's. Knowledge of equipment and machinery used within a production environment.
