Global Gates LLC is a growing commercial and industrial gate, barrier, fencing, and access-control company specializing in high-security and mission-critical systems. Our work includes automated gates, crash-rated barriers, wedge barriers, drop arms, bollards, access-control systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency service, installation, and system integration. This position primarily supports data-center customers in Northern Virginia. We are seeking an experienced, technically capable Technical Service & Projects Manager to help lead our Virginia service and project operations. This is a hands-on field-management role for someone who can lead technicians, coordinate projects, communicate professionally with customers, and provide technical support in the field. Approximately 90% of the work is expected to take place in Virginia, primarily Northern Virginia, with occasional travel for projects, service, training, or customer support. Position Overview The Technical Service & Projects Manager will coordinate day-to-day service and preventive-maintenance operations while managing assigned installation and repair projects. This person will connect customers, field technicians, and company leadership, taking ownership of work from the initial customer call through scheduling, diagnosis, repair, documentation, and closeout. The right candidate will be comfortable working with tools while also managing people, schedules, customer expectations, and project details.
Responsibilities:
Service Operations Schedule and dispatch technicians based on location, skill level, urgency, and customer requirements. Receive, prioritize, and coordinate routine and emergency service requests. Track service calls from the initial request through completion. Review technician findings, service reports, photographs, and recommended repairs. Coordinate parts, equipment, follow-up repairs, and return visits. Keep customers informed about scheduling, findings, repairs, and outstanding work. Ensure service documentation is complete before closing jobs. Assist with advanced troubleshooting and perform field diagnostics and service when needed. Preventive Maintenance Maintain recurring preventive-maintenance schedules for contracted customers. Coordinate technicians, equipment, parts, and customer site access. Ensure inspections are completed on time. Review inspection reports and coordinate corrective work. Support customer relationships and assist with maintenance-agreement renewals, scope adjustments, and expansion. Project Management Manage assigned gate, barrier, fencing, and access-control installation and repair projects. Review scopes, drawings, specifications, submittals, and contractual requirements. Coordinate crews, materials, pickups and deliveries, equipment, subcontractors, and site access. Communicate with general contractors, customers, site representatives, and company leadership. Track progress and identify scheduling, material, and scope issues early. Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list work, and closeout. Maintain accurate project documentation. Technical Field Support Troubleshoot automated gates, operators, vehicle barriers, controls, safety devices, and access-control systems. Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures. Support technicians with difficult or unusual service issues. Perform repairs and system adjustments when necessary. Assist with commissioning and testing new installations. Verify that completed work meets company quality standards and applicable safety and site requirements. Qualifications We are looking for someone who: Has relevant electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience. Can organize multiple technicians, service calls, maintenance schedules, and projects. Makes sound decisions independently and knows when to involve company leadership. Communicates professionally with customers, contractors, and site personnel. Can read drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Is comfortable using computers, mobile applications, email, scheduling tools, and digital service documentation. Can prioritize emergency requests while keeping scheduled work moving. Follows and reinforces company and customer safety requirements. Is willing to work in the field and occasionally travel outside Northern Virginia. Holds a valid driver's license appropriate for assigned driving duties. Is legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of these areas is strongly preferred: Commercial gate automation and vehicle barrier systems. Access control or security systems. Industrial electrical or mechanical service. Commercial doors, parking systems, or automated equipment. Industrial maintenance, commercial fencing, or related field-service work. Experience supervising or scheduling field technicians and managing commercial construction or specialty-contracting projects is highly desirable.
Relevant equipment experience may include:
Commercial gate operators. Crash-rated barriers, wedge barriers, drop-arm barriers, and bollards. Hydraulic and electromechanical systems. Vehicle-detection loops, photo eyes, and monitored safety devices. PLC controls, VFDs, and low-voltage systems. Relays, contactors, sensors, encoders, and control circuits. Commercial fencing and gate hardware. Experience with HySecurity, LiftMaster, Magnetic AutoControl, Wallace, Ameristar, Gibraltar, or similar equipment is beneficial. Experience with every listed system or manufacturer is not required; strong related technical experience will be considered.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$20-$40 per hour , based on technical experience, troubleshooting ability, leadership skills, and project-management experience.

Physical Requirements This is an active field-management position involving outdoor work, walking active construction sites, using ladders and hand tools, inspecting equipment, and assisting with field repairs.
