Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Water Operations to lead and oversee all aspects of water utility management, including water treatment, distribution, and wastewater systems. Duties Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of water treatment plant operations, wastewater systems, and distribution networks to ensure efficient service delivery. Oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment, industrial pumps, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS) to maximize system uptime and performance. Manage heavy equipment operation and construction activities related to water infrastructure projects while adhering to safety regulations and PPE protocols. Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting on water quality parameters, system performance metrics, and environmental compliance standards. Supervise maintenance activities including equipment repair, pump operation, heavy lifting tasks, and wastewater system troubleshooting to prevent outages and extend asset lifespan. Ensure all staff follow safety regulations, environmental policies, and PPE use during daily operations; promote a safety-first culture across teams. Collaborate with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance with environmental standards; prepare reports for audits and inspections. Provide leadership in training staff on water systems operation, mechanical knowledge, analysis skills, and safety procedures to build a highly skilled team. Skills Extensive knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment plant operations, and associated systems. Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) used in water facilities. Strong mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, piping systems, and water treatment equipment operation. Experience working with heavy equipment operation, construction projects, and industrial pump maintenance and repair. Ability to analyze complex data sets for system optimization; excellent math skills including basic math fundamentals. Familiarity with environmental compliance standards related to water utility distribution and wastewater management. Skilled in equipment repair, maintenance planning, troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime. Knowledge of safety regulations governing heavy lifting, construction activities, PPE use, and hazardous materials handling. Experience working in the energy & utilities sector; understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting water operations. Strong communication skills for reporting findings clearly; leadership ability to motivate teams toward operational excellence.
