This is an in-person position based at our Reading, PA location. We are looking for someone with extensive experience in the heavy-duty truck, transit, fleet, or commercial vehicle parts industry who understands the supplier landscape and can develop strong, long-term vendor relationships. This role goes beyond placing purchase orders. The Purchasing Manager will be expected to understand our businesses, identify strategic sourcing opportunities, negotiate effectively with suppliers, improve purchasing economics, and ensure our teams have the right products available at the right time. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day purchasing activities for both DPF Services LLC and Neopart Transit LLC. Source heavy-duty truck, transit, emissions, engine, and related aftermarket parts and components. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and other key suppliers. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight, lead times, stocking programs, rebates, and other commercial terms. Continuously identify alternative suppliers and sourcing opportunities to improve cost, availability, and supply-chain reliability. Partner with operations, sales, inventory, and leadership teams to understand purchasing requirements and anticipate future demand. Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, quality, fill rates, lead times, responsiveness, and overall value. Support inventory planning by balancing product availability with inventory investment and turnover. Identify opportunities to consolidate purchasing and leverage the combined buying power of DPF Services and Neopart Transit. Develop sourcing strategies for high-volume and strategically important product categories. Support new product and vendor development as the companies expand their product offerings and geographic footprint. Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and commercial agreements. Monitor market conditions, manufacturer changes, pricing trends, product availability, and supply-chain risks. Establish measurable purchasing KPIs and provide leadership with visibility into cost savings, supplier performance, and sourcing initiatives. Qualifications Significant purchasing, sourcing, parts, or supply-chain experience within the heavy-duty truck, transit, commercial vehicle, fleet, diesel, or related aftermarket industry . Strong knowledge of heavy-duty parts and the supplier/manufacturer landscape. Demonstrated experience developing strategic supplier relationships rather than simply processing transactions. Proven ability to negotiate pricing and commercial terms. Strong understanding of inventory, purchasing economics, lead times, and supplier performance. Ability to identify cross-references, alternative products, and alternative sourcing channels is strongly preferred. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage purchasing requirements across two growing businesses. Comfortable working directly with senior leadership and taking ownership of purchasing decisions. Strong Excel and systems skills; experience working with ERP, inventory management, or purchasing systems preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has spent meaningful time in the heavy-duty parts industry and already understands how the market works. They may have experience with a heavy-duty distributor, parts manufacturer, transit supplier, fleet organization, dealership group, or aftermarket parts company. We are particularly interested in someone who has developed relationships throughout the industry and knows how to turn those relationships into better pricing, stronger availability, new product opportunities, and more strategic supplier partnerships. This individual should be equally comfortable negotiating with a major manufacturer, developing a new supplier, analyzing purchasing data, and working with our internal teams to solve an immediate parts requirement. What Success Looks Like Success in this position will be measured by the Purchasing Manager's ability to: Reduce total purchasing costs while maintaining product quality. Improve supplier pricing and commercial terms. Develop stronger strategic supplier relationships. Increase purchasing leverage across DPF Services and Neopart Transit. Improve product availability and reduce sourcing-related delays. Identify new suppliers and alternative sourcing channels. Improve inventory efficiency and purchasing discipline. Proactively identify supply-chain risks and opportunities before they impact the business.
