$24.00/hour + full, company-sponsored benefits (medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick leave, retirement plan); mileage and cell phone reimbursement Position Summary Under the general supervision of the ADRC Manager, the Advocate Training Coordinator implements the Independent Living philosophy by coordinating advocacy training and delivering core independent living services to individuals with disabilities and older adults. The role oversees training development, consumer service coordination, and partner collaboration to ensure consumers achieve self-directed goals that promote independence, community integration, and systems access. Services align with federally mandated Independent Living Core Services, including: Information & Referral Independent Living Skills Training Peer Support Individual & Systems Advocacy Transition Services (youth and institutional transition) Essential Duties & Responsibilities Consumer Services & Case Coordination Conduct intake, eligibility screening, and comprehensive needs assessments. Develop, implement, and monitor Independent Living Plans (ILPs) with measurable goals and timelines. Provide ongoing service coordination, follow-up, and documentation of consumer progress. Maintain compliant consumer files and database records per federal, state, county, and grant standards. Advocacy & Benefits Navigation Assist consumers in accessing public benefits and entitlements (e.g., SSI, SSDI, Medi-Cal, Medicare, CalFresh). Support application completion, appeals preparation, and hearing documentation. Coordinate with specialists on housing, assistive technology, transportation, personal care, healthcare, employment, and education resources. Training & Curriculum Development Design and deliver independent living skills and advocacy training curricula. Coordinate workshops aligned with ILPs and identified consumer needs. Support Advocate Training Specialists in delivering structured learning opportunities. Community Collaboration & Outreach Build and maintain partnerships with community agencies, housing providers, and service systems. Represent CRS-IL at outreach events, coalitions, and public education forums. Provide disability awareness presentations and promote organizational programs. Program Administration & Reporting Track referrals, service outcomes, and training activities. Compile monthly performance and grant reports. Manage documentation, case records, and service data. CalFresh Contract Support Conduct outreach, pre-screenings, application assistance, and follow-up for eligible consumers. Other Duties Participate regularly in professional development and required trainings. Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and organizational operations. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human services, Education, Organizational Leadership, or related field OR 3-5 years' experience in disability, aging, or community-based services. Demonstrated knowledge of Independent Living philosophy and disability culture. Understanding of local, state, and federal service systems and benefits programs. Experience working with diverse disability populations and multicultural communities.
Preferred:
Bilingual capability. Public speaking and training facilitation experience. Decision-Making & Representation The position exercises independent judgment in consumer service coordination and training implementation. Matters with fiscal, legal, or strategic impact are elevated to executive leadership. The coordinator may represent CRS-IL in community bodies or committees as designated.
