Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a Project Lead to support the execution of avionics engineering programs involving either Software (SW) or FPGA development. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who has demonstrated leadership capabilities and is looking to transition into a formal management role. This position will focus on team coordination, project execution, status reporting, customer interaction, and overall project visibility. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and engineering teams, with mentorship and training provided as needed.
Location:
The role can be onsite (CT), hybrid, or remote. Responsibilities Lead avionics and embedded systems development projects from initiation through delivery and certification in alignment with contracts and project plans. Lead day-to-day execution of engineering activities for full-lifecycle projects. Serve as primary representative to customers, engineering teams and management. Define and maintain project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and resource plan. Monitor program execution using multiple management techniques including, but not limited to, Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, standard metrics, and agile/lean techniques. Understand and apply Quality Management Systems (QMS). Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Systems, Software, Hardware, Test, and Certification teams. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and respond to difficult situations while minimizing project disruptions. Support and offload senior managers. Guide and develop teams; manage individual performance. Support business development activities. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline. 7+ years of industry experience. 3+ years of demonstrated team mentorship or supervising in an engineering environment.
Strong understanding of:
Earned Value Management (EVM) Agile/Scrum Agile/Scrum Master expectations Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams with minimal technical and managerial support. Experience coordinating full-lifecycle engineering teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. U.S. citizenship is required. Dual citizenship should be disclosed. Able to travel approximately four to six weeks in a year.
