Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but compact enough that our staff works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and international partner organizations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying Federal and Department of War policy, legal, and operational requirements to sensitive detention, detainee, corrections, rule-of-law, or comparable mission areas; 2) Leading complex staff analysis that integrates operational, legal, policy, resource, and risk information into concise recommendations for senior military or civilian leaders; 3) Representing an organization in cross-functional and interagency working groups to reconcile competing requirements, establish shared timelines, and resolve coordination issues; and 4) Managing or leading high-visibility operational-support efforts involving multiple stakeholders, sensitive logistics, executive-level reporting, and strict compliance requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Time in
Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
