The Valspar Championship spring internship is an educational program for students who want to understand how a professional sporting event is made and who want to grow into the professionals who make it happen. This year, a cohort of six interns takes on real responsibility inside a

PGA TOUR

tournament while learning directly from tournament staff, industry leaders, and partners across the sports business. Interns join in January, are placed in a tournament department, and see the event through every phase: planning, the on-site build, Championship week, and close-out in mid-May. Alongside their department work, interns take part in a curriculum covering course operations, sponsorship, and professional development, with opportunities to learn from sports organizations across Tampa Bay. The season ends with a capstone presentation to tournament staff and board members. By the final round on Sunday, each intern will have played a meaningful part in delivering a

event and will leave with the experience, skills, and connections to start a career in the industry. Program alumni have gone on to careers in professional golf, Major League Soccer, the NBA, the NFL, and the corporate side of the sports industry. Departments Each intern is placed in one department for the season: Operations Ticketing Pro-Am Tournament Services (volunteers, events, sponsorship, and tournament office) Who We're Looking For Current undergraduate or graduate students in any major Available in the Tampa Bay area from January through mid-May 2027, including all of Championship week Able to work outdoors for extended periods during tournament week Reliable transportation to Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor Curious about how live events come together. No golf background is required; we will teach you the game.

Part-time and flexible around classes, with full days and some evenings and weekends during the build and Championship week

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship with a nonprofit organization. Other benefits will be provided like tickets, golf rounds, shared housing during tournament week, etc.

Academic credit:

We are happy to work with your university on credit requirements, including supervisor evaluations and paperwork. Academic credit is required.
