September 2026 Job Description Y.O.U. is seeking energetic, adaptable, and creative young adults age 16+ from the Greater New Bedford area to join our team as a Guide! This position serves as a "utility role" in our small but impactful organization. This work and learning opportunity will support and challenge you to develop your leadership skills as a role model and mentor for children under the direct guidance of our OST Program Manager and Lead Guides. Guides have certain basic responsibilities, but there is also flexibility to create and lead experiences for the program based on your own interests & skills. Core Responsibilities Assist with leading bicycle trips and other outdoor adventures for children ages 9 to 14. Create and maintain a safe, fun, and educational environment for program participants. Serve as a positive role model and mentor through words and actions for participants and Junior Guides Attend and participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain program facilities and equipment, including set-up and clean-up of program space and bicycle maintenance. Facilitate group games, swimming, sports, gardening, crafts and team building activities. Assist with documentation of programs by keeping daily program logs, attendance records, taking photographs and videos, and completing program surveys. Engage and encourage Junior Guides in their learning experiences. Other Other job-related duties and responsibilities may be assigned, and/or the job description may change to reflect changing organizational needs. Required Qualifications Great communication skills. Aptitude for multi-tasking. Ability to work with youth from various socio-economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds in an engagingly and sensitive manner. Resourcefulness, flexibility, self-motivation, and initiative. Positive energy, curiosity, and a spirit of fun. A willingness to learn and maintain a good attitude. An appreciation for nature and a willingness to be outdoors in all weather conditions. Salary Range Starting pay rate $15 per hour. Work Schedule School Year (September - June).
Weekdays:
2-3 hour shifts, approximately 2:30-5:30. Paid staff training will take place at the start of each programming season. Hours subject to change depending on program needs and field trip opportunities. Opportunity may be available to work additional hours for the right person.
