care Clinical confidentiality policies Experience working with individuals from underserved communities Full Job Description Health Promotions Specialist Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Subject to Funding Availability Position Overview The Health Promotion Specialist assigned to Testing and Screening provides comprehensive HIV, HCV, and STI screening, health risk assessments, prevention education, outreach, and linkage-to-care services. The employee will primarily support testing and screening activities while assisting with other Health Promotion Services programs based on training, program needs, and supervisor assignment. APW offers a generous benefits package that includes four weeks of paid vacation, 12 paid sick days, and 13 paid holidays annually. Required Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in human services, public health, or a related field is preferred. In lieu of a degree, applicants must have at least two years of experience working with individuals living with HIV or HCV or individuals with substance use disorders.
• Current phlebotomy certification and demonstrated phlebotomy experience are required.
• A valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
• Knowledge of overdose prevention, safer-sex practices, substance use related practices and safety, and naloxone administration.
• Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, infection-control practices, and bloodborne-pathogen safety standards.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and nonjudgmental services.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and related data management platforms.
• Spanish speaking ability is preferred but not required. Job Responsibilities
• Provide HIV, HCV, and STI screening services and conduct pre and post-test risk assessments at APW, through mobile and street outreach, in correctional facilities, and in other community-based settings.
• Perform blood draws and prepare specimens for submission to designated laboratories in accordance with contract established protocols.
• Monitor and retrieve screening results and communicate them to clients promptly, accurately, and confidentially in accordance with established protocols.
• Provide supported referrals to medical evaluation, treatment, and other appropriate services, providing follow-up, when authorized, to confirm successful linkage to care.
• Provide education on HIV, HCV, STIs, PrEP, PEP, substance use practices and safety, wound care, and overdose prevention, including naloxone (Narcan) training and overdose recognition and response.
• Help maintain welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environments and actively participate in outreach activities, such as tabling events and educational presentations (which may occur in the evening or on weekends).
• Complete all required documentation, including data entry, quality assurance activities, and program reports, within established timelines.
• Maintain current phlebotomy certification and complete all mandatory APW and funder required training.
• Participate in required program, departmental, and agency-wide meetings and attend clinical and administrative supervision as assigned.
• Perform other testing, harm reduction, outreach, and supportive-service duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
