Position Description:
The Division of Learning and Instruction is hiring two summer internship positions. Interns will have the opportunity to work with staff in the Office of Standards, Leadership, and Learning, Office of Title Programs, and Office of Assessment and Accountability. Interns will gain valuable perspective and experience through working with state level specialists that work to support educators and administrators in South Dakota schools and districts.
Key Responsibilities:
Interns will assist with a range of tasks, including but not limited to: editing and formatting documents, presentations, and reports; supporting the planning and coordination of meetings, trainings, and conferences; organizing and maintaining digital and physical files; conducting research and compiling information to support program initiatives; assisting with data entry, analysis, and visualization; assisting with communication for workshops; participating in team meetings and contributing to brainstorming and planning sessions.
Learning Opportunities:
Interns will gain valuable insight into the work of state education agencies and will have the opportunity to: work alongside specialists in the Office of Standards, Leadership, and Learning, Office of Title Programs, and Office of Assessment and Accountability; learn about state and federal education programs and policies; develop professional skills in communication, organization, and project management; gain experience using tools such as Microsoft Office and other education-related platforms.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions. It is preferred that the applicant be pursuing a degree in Education or related field.
