Job Description

Our Summer Internship Program is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students with a structured, hands on, meaningful learning experience in a healthcare environment. Over the course of 8-12 weeks, interns work on real projects that support departmental goals while gaining practical skills relevant to their academic and career interests by gaining exposure to clinical operations, patient services, administrative functions, and the day-to-day processes that support high quality patient care. The program provides meaningful project work aligned to departmental needs-such as quality improvement, patient experience initiatives, data collection, care coordination support, and operational workflows. Interns work closely with experienced healthcare professionals who provide mentorship, coaching, and regular feedback. Interns also receive exposure to different areas of the organization, helping them build a broad understanding of our operations and culture. The goal of the program is to support early‑career development, foster interest in healthcare professions, and build a pipeline of future talent who are committed to advancing patient care and organizational excellence. While we mostly look for students pursing a Healthcare Administration degree, there are times we look for students pursuing degrees in other areas depending upon what our mentors' needs are for their departments. The program is coordinated through the Talent Development Office, managed by Erin Kelly and overseen by the Chief Talent Officer. Students can begin submitting applications in March through a position posted on our website. The Chief Talent Officer sends out communication in February to all officers asking if they or someone in their department would like to mentor a student that summer. Between March and April, the Chief Talent Officer works with the mentors to conduct interviews with the students that have applied to help find applicants that would be aligned with their department needs. The students that are selected would start with the department toward the end of May or beginning of June, after attending New Employee Orientation.

Texas Health requires a resume when an application is submitted.
