Job Overview:

•We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Scenic Project Manager to oversee scenic projects from initial concept and estimating through fabrication, installation, and final completion. The Scenic Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact between clients, designers, vendors, fabricators, installers, and internal teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of scenic fabrication and installation, excellent project management skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

Duties:

•Manage scenic projects from kickoff through completion, including planning, fabrication, finishing, delivery, installation, and strike. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, production plans, and installation timelines. Serve as the primary liaison between clients, creative teams, designers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal production departments. Review project drawings, renderings, specifications, and scope of work to identify requirements, challenges, and potential issues. Work closely with scenic designers, artists, fabricators, carpenters, painters, welders, electricians, and other trades to ensure the finished product meets design intent. Coordinate materials, labor, equipment, transportation, subcontractors, and other resources required for successful project execution. Prepare and manage project estimates, purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and other project documentation. Monitor project costs and proactively identify budget risks, scope changes, and opportunities for cost savings. Establish project milestones and communicate deadlines and expectations clearly to all stakeholders. Conduct regular project meetings and provide status updates to clients and internal leadership. Identify and resolve production, scheduling, design, and installation challenges before they impact the project. Coordinate on-site installations, including crews, equipment, logistics, site access, and client/vendor requirements. Ensure projects comply with applicable safety standards, site requirements, and company policies. Perform quality-control checks throughout fabrication and installation to ensure work meets specifications and expectations. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and strong communication across all teams. Participate in project post-mortems and identify opportunities to improve processes, estimating, scheduling, and production efficiency.

Qualifications:

•3+ years of project management experience in scenic fabrication, themed entertainment, events, experiential marketing, film/television, theater, exhibits, or a related production environment. Strong knowledge of scenic fabrication processes, materials, finishes, construction techniques, and installation methods. Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, elevations, plans, and design documentation. Experience managing project budgets, schedules, vendors, subcontractors, and production teams. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Ability to communicate effectively with both creative and technical teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; experience with project management software is a plus. Ability to travel and work occasional nights, weekends, or extended hours when project schedules require. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed. Experience working with large-scale scenic installations or complex experiential environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience with CNC, welding, carpentry, foam fabrication, scenic painting, hard scenic, soft goods, or specialty fabrication. Familiarity with permitting, venue requirements, rigging, site logistics, and installation coordination. Experience working directly with clients and managing subcontractors. Ability to understand both creative design intent and practical fabrication requirements. Construction management, theatrical production, scenic design, or related education.
