- Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Phlebotomist/Laboratory assistant is primarily based in the laboratory and is responsible for the skillful collection of blood samples, blood culture samples and other body fluid samples from inpatient and outpatient populations ranging in age from neonatal through geriatric.

The phlebotomist/laboratory assistant is responsible for specimen processing, answering telephone, processing sends out specimens, loading specimens onto instrumentation, and faxing laboratory results in accordance to hospital policy, and any other duties within the scope of licensure.
- What qualifications you will need:
- + High school graduate or GED + Formal training as a Medical Assistant or a graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program preferred + Licensed by the State of Nevada as a Laboratory Assistant + Point of Care Analysis within 6 months of hire preferred (POC supersedes lab assistant license and will replace it once obtained) + 6 months of work experience in a clinical laboratory preferred + May consider a recent graduate of an accredited phlebotomy-training program.
+ Laboratory Information Systems knowledge preferred
+ Computer application experience (word processing, and spreadsheet applications) preferred
+ Medical terminology preferred
+ BLS required
