Partner with superintendents, project managers, and field teams to monitor production, track installed quantities, review labor and equipment costs, and identify cost risks early. Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, budget-to-actual analysis, and project performance reporting for leadership. Track committed costs, support change management, and maintain reliable forecasting so project leaders can see current position and projected financial outcomes. Use HCSS HeavyJob and Vista to strengthen cost accuracy, reporting discipline, and alignment between field operations and accounting. Work closely with the Deputy Project Manager to improve financial visibility, reinforce accountability, and support better project decisions. What Success Looks Like In the first 6 to 12 months, success in this role will include: Establishing reliable cost reporting that gives the team a clear, timely view of current performance and forecasted results. Improving alignment between field production, installed quantities, labor and equipment costs, and accounting data. Identifying budget variances and cost trends early enough for leadership to take corrective action. Becoming a trusted partner to operations and project leadership by turning field and financial data into practical insight. Helping the project team maintain stronger cost discipline across a large, active, and highly visible infrastructure project. What We're Looking For We are looking for a Project Controller who can manage cost performance with accuracy and consistency while working effectively with both field leadership and management.
Strong candidates will typically bring:
5+ years of experience in project controls, job cost management, project accounting, or construction cost tracking on large-scale projects. Experience supporting heavy civil, highway, bridge, infrastructure, or other large construction projects. Strong knowledge of budgets, forecasting, cost reporting, committed costs, and project financial controls. Working knowledge of HCSS HeavyJob and Vista, or the ability to become effective in those systems quickly. The ability to communicate clearly with field teams and leadership and raise concerns with confidence and professionalism. A detail-oriented, accountable approach and sound judgment in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred qualifications:
CCP, PSP, EVP, PMP, CPA, or similar credentials in project controls, cost management, scheduling, or project delivery. Degree in business, accounting, construction management, finance, or a related field. Additional hands-on experience with costing systems and construction accounting software. Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time salaried position with a compensation range of $130,000 to $165,000 USD per year .
