Job:
The Project Manager provides support and expertise to the university's AI Hub, serving as the primary coordinator for initiatives spanning the Hub's activities. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role works closely with the AI Hub Teaching and Learning, Research, Administration and Operations, and Engagement associate directors to enact programs spanning the University of Minnesota. The incumbent identifies university-wide assets, manages complex timelines, and ensures cohesive program execution in collaboration with events and communications teams.
Location and Work environment:
This position is hybrid (work profile 2 or 3), with a campus work location in Johnston Hall. This position is not eligible for H-1B or green card sponsorship.
Primary Responsibilities:
Cross-Pillar Strategy & Resource Coordination (20%)
  • Collaborate with associate directors to translate the University's AI strategic roadmap into actionable project plans
  • Identify and coordinate assets and resources across the University system to fulfill project objectives
  • Serve as a central point of contact for agile teams to enact programs with differing priority levels
  • Monitor progress toward goals and revise project plans to ensure alignment Program Development & Execution (60%)
  • Coordinate the development of AI literacy curriculum frameworks in partnership with the Education leads and academic units
  • Manage the operational life cycle of seed grant programs for research and curriculum innovation, including review cycles and award processes
  • Oversee the activities of domain-specific subgroups (e.g., use-inspired AI groups) to ensure deliverables and KPIs are met Communications & Event Integration (10%)
  • Work with the existing events and communications staff to execute cohesive workshops, lecture series, and conferences
  • Ensure all programs are accurately represented on the AI Hub's central web portal and public-facing channels
  • Coordinate with the Associate Director of Engagement to facilitate programs that build public trust and industry partnerships Administrative Oversight (10%)
  • Track and report relevant metrics and performance indicators for Institute-wide initiatives
  • Ensure work is performed within scope, quality, and budget constraints as defined by AI Hub leadership
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree plus at least two years of experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under moderate supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to find solutions to modestly technical or operational problems using standard procedures
  • Knowledge of Asana or similar planning tool
