Job Title:
Project Manager
  • Geotechnical & Specialty ConstructionJob Description This Project Manager role leads geotechnical and specialty construction projects from pre-construction through close-out, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and field execution.
You serve as the primary point of contact for clients while coordinating closely with field crews, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to deliver projects involving drilling, grouting, soil stabilization, and challenging ground conditions. This position suits a hands-on project leader who enjoys working both in the office and in the field and thrives in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment. The role offers a strong opportunity to take ownership of projects and grow into a full cradle-to-grave Project Manager position. Responsibilities Manage geotechnical and specialty construction projects from award through completion, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, cost tracking systems, and financial forecasts. Coordinate drilling, grouting, earthwork, and soil stabilization activities with field teams to ensure efficient and safe execution. Serve as the primary client-facing contact, maintaining clear, consistent, and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle. Review and manage contracts, scopes of work, requests for information (RFIs), submittals, and change orders to ensure clarity and compliance. Collaborate with engineers and technical consultants on constructability reviews and execution planning for complex ground and site conditions. Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet safety, quality, schedule, and scope requirements. Monitor project performance against key metrics and provide regular status updates and reports to leadership. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements on each project. Support preconstruction efforts, including estimating, pricing, and work planning, to help secure and properly plan upcoming projects. Lead project closeout activities, including completion of documentation, billing, and capturing lessons learned for continuous improvement. Coordinate effectively with field crews, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to successfully deliver all project phases. Essential Skills Proven project management experience in construction or civil engineering environments, with responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget. Demonstrated ability to coordinate drilling, grouting, earthwork, and soil stabilization activities with field teams. Strong skills in managing contracts, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, and change orders. Experience collaborating with engineers and technical consultants on constructability and execution planning. Ability to oversee subcontractors and suppliers to ensure safety, quality, and scope compliance. Proficiency in project coordination and communication with clients and internal stakeholders. Capability to support estimating, pricing, and work planning during preconstruction phases. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Comfort working both in the office and in the field, including frequent site visits. Ability to work effectively with field crews, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to deliver projects successfully. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in construction, civil engineering, or construction management. Experience with land development, site development, and commercial construction projects. Familiarity with stormwater, drainage, and civil design principles. Experience with project engineering and estimation. Exposure to or proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related civil design tools. Interest in growing into a full cradle-to-grave Project Manager role with ownership of all project phases. Work Environment This is a remote-based role with frequent travel to project sites. You can expect to be on-site approximately three to four days per week, with projects located across multiple geographic areas. The position combines office-based planning and coordination with regular field presence to oversee drilling, grouting, earthwork, and soil stabilization activities in active construction environments. You work closely with field crews, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors, often in dynamic, fast-paced conditions that require adaptability and hands-on problem solving. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayland, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00
  • $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
