Job Description

PROJECT MANAGERS TASKS
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors and subcontractors, engineers and architects and other professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines
  • Prepare bids and estimates
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with construction and safety codes and environmental regulations
  • Plan, organize and direct activities concerned with the construction systems
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods
  • Investigate delays at sites to ensure that proper procedures are being followed
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with engineers, architects, contractors or facility owners
  • Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete projects

KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment involved in underground utility and road construction
  • Knowledge of business and management principles in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of workers and resources
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the construction trade
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics and their applications
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

WORK ACTIVITIES
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, and in person.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems
  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others
  • Scheduling of work activities involving others and coordinating the work to accomplish tasks as a team
  • Organizing, planning and prioritizing work according to specific goals
  • Communicating with people outside of the company, representing the company to customers, the public, and government agencies in person, in writing, by telephone and e-mail
  • Entering, recording, storing and maintaining necessary information in written and/or electronic form
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork
  • Other duties as required to meet evolving business and project needs
