Scope of Position:
The United Way of Southern Colorado (UWSC) Community Impact Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, coordination, and continued development of the Community Resource Hub and supporting broader community resilience and impact initiatives. The Hub connects individuals and families with critical information about services and resources available across Southern Colorado. Responsibilities include supervising resource navigation, coordinating service delivery systems, facilitating collaborative partnerships, supporting collective impact initiatives, and coordinating UWSC's emergency preparedness and response efforts. The Manager serves as a key point of contact for community members, partners, service providers, and stakeholders engaged in these efforts. The goal of this position is to strengthen community impact across Southern Colorado by increasing the region's capacity to connect individuals and families with timely, coordinated, and responsive support during everyday circumstances and emergencies. Through this work, the position helps improve coordination among organizations, identify service gaps and emerging needs, strengthen referral pathways, and support preparedness and collaborative response efforts across the region. That's why UWSC brings programs and partners together through key initiatives that provide the infrastructure for collaboration, support new community solutions, strengthen capacity, reshape practices, and contribute to measurable change. Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions Community Impact, Resilience & Strategic Initiatives Research best practices and emerging models to support community impact through evidence-based program and service design. Lead the planning, implementation, and management of community programs and initiatives offered through the Hub. Coordinate with partner organizations and service providers to expand, strengthen, and improve access to Hub programs and resources. Coordinate UWSC's emergency preparedness and response efforts, including participation in cross-sector planning and response activities. Monitor emerging community needs and service gaps to inform community resilience planning, services, and programs. Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Engagement to promote the Community Resource Hub, build awareness of related community impact initiatives, share relevant resources and updates, and support consistent public and partner communications. Ensure equity, belonging, and family voice are embedded throughout Hub services and related community impact initiatives. Hub Operations & Resource Navigation Oversee daily operations of the Community Resource Hub and support the continued development of the technology platform. Supervise assigned resource navigator staff who connect individuals and families with appropriate services and resources through phone, online, and in-person engagement. Provide onboarding, training, coaching, workload coordination, performance feedback, and ongoing support to assigned navigator staff. Establish consistent navigation practices, service standards, referral procedures, documentation requirements, and accountability across navigator roles. Support a welcoming, responsive, and coordinated experience for community members accessing Hub services. Manage processes to identify and refer Hub clients who require support from a healthcare provider or other specialist. Maintain accurate records of services provided, referrals, attendance, and outcomes. Community Engagement & Collective Impact Build and maintain relationships with community members, partner organizations, government agencies, schools, businesses, healthcare providers, funders, and other stakeholders to strengthen coordinated service delivery, collaborative community efforts, and collective impact. Facilitate community meetings, workshops, events, and collective impact convenings that promote Hub services and related community resilience and impact initiatives, cross-sector collaboration, shared goals, and community engagement. Coordinate collaborative efforts among partners to improve communication, service alignment, equitable practices, and community-based problem solving. Advocate for community priorities by elevating community voice and supporting strategies that improve access to resources and services. Program Grants & Sustainability Identify funding opportunities, grants, and in-kind support to sustain and expand Hub operations and related community impact initiatives. Write and submit program-specific grant proposals in coordination with internal staff, partners, and stakeholders. Coordinate and complete grant reporting requirements and ensure compliance with deadlines and funding expectations for the programs managed by this position. Data, Evaluation & Reporting Collaborate with partners to collect and analyze data related to program outcomes. Prepare reports and updates for stakeholders, partners, and the broader community regarding initiative progress and outcomes. Use data and feedback to inform decision-making, improve programming, and adapt strategies as needed. Support evaluation and measurement of program effectiveness, service delivery outcomes, and overall community impact. Skills and Abilities Passion for serving communities and supporting nonprofit and community-based initiatives through professional, educational, or volunteer experience. Proven experience developing, implementing, and managing complex, high-impact programs and services that include multiple partners and stakeholders. Excellent communication, facilitation, relationship building, and community engagement skills, with the ability to convene diverse stakeholders and lead collaborative discussions and problem-solving efforts. Ability to remain calm, assess changing conditions, and make timely, well-informed decisions in high-pressure emergency-response situations. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, interpret data, and support informed decision-making. Experience utilizing databases, referral platforms, data systems, and technology tools to support coordination, reporting, service delivery, and program evaluation. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, self-manage priorities, and consistently meet deadlines in evolving and sometimes ambiguous environments. Ability to supervise, coach, support, and hold staff accountable while promoting consistency, professional growth, and high-quality service delivery. Strong team orientation, professionalism, integrity, self-motivation, and adaptability. Demonstrated commitment to equity, belonging, and community-centered practices. Ability to lead, influence, and strengthen collaborative efforts internally and externally. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of professional, volunteer, grassroots, or lived experience in nonprofit management, community engagement, emergency management, social services, resource navigation, collective impact initiatives, partnership development, program management, or related community-based work. Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, collaborative initiatives, partnerships, community engagement efforts, service delivery systems, or community-based resources required. Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, training, or providing leadership to staff, volunteers, interns, or service-delivery teams required. Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, trainings, community conversations, or collaborative groups preferred. Experience with grant writing, grant reporting, compliance activities, or fund development preferred. Experience working with nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, schools, government agencies, or cross- sector community partnerships preferred. Experience with disaster preparedness, response or recovery, emergency operations, or cross-sector response coordination preferred. Experience maintaining or developing technology platforms, databases, or online resource systems preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, referral platforms, and general technology systems preferred. We value lived experience, community leadership, and nontraditional career pathways. Work Environment The job is typically performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting while working at a computer and occasional fast-paced operations and events. Physical Demands Ability to use computers and look at monitors for 8+ hours per day. Ability to stoop, kneel, reach, and bend at the waist. Ability to sit or stand for up to 10 hours per day. Ability to use hands and fingers and have good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals and copiers/printers. Ability to hear, see and speak within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Ability to communicate orally with volunteers, customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers. Ability to communicate professionally via email, phone, text, and social media channels. Ability to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business. Good reasoning ability is important.
