Position Overview A private real estate ownership group is seeking an experienced Property Manager to oversee a portfolio of multifamily properties in the Chicago area. This is a hands-on leadership role combining tenant and leasing operations, building maintenance, and construction oversight. The Property Manager will serve as the primary point of coordination among ownership, tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors. The ideal candidate understands how multifamily buildings operate, can diagnose and prioritize property issues, and is comfortable managing projects from initial scope through completion. Property management experience is strongly preferred. Experience in construction, building maintenance, or the skilled trades would be particularly valuable. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations across a portfolio of multifamily properties Manage tenant communications, service requests, lease administration, renewals, and unit turnover Support leasing activities and help maintain strong occupancy across the portfolio Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance, safety, and capital-improvement needs Diagnose building issues and develop practical scopes of work Prioritize and coordinate routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance Manage and direct a small team of employees performing maintenance and property-related work Select, schedule, and supervise outside vendors and contractors Review proposals, monitor project costs, and confirm that work is completed properly and on schedule Oversee apartment renovations, building improvements, and larger construction projects Maintain accurate property, tenant, maintenance, and project records Provide ownership with regular updates regarding operations, tenant matters, repairs, and capital projects Respond to occasional urgent or after-hours property issues Qualifications Prior experience in multifamily property management, construction, building maintenance, or a related field Working knowledge of building systems and the ability to diagnose common property and maintenance issues Experience managing employees, vendors, contractors, and construction projects Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations Sound judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to problems Strong written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working directly with tenants, employees, contractors, and ownership Ability to evaluate workmanship, costs, schedules, and project progress Familiarity with property-management software and basic financial reporting is preferred Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Position Details Full-time position Regular travel among properties in the Chicago area Work vehicle provided Occasional evening or weekend availability for urgent property matters Competitive compensation commensurate with experience

$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
